South Substation
Overview
We are upgrading and expanding the existing South Substation (West Arizona Avenue and South Navajo Street) in Denver, Colorado. The Project consists of equipment additions and new grading south of the existing substation yard, replacement of the existing fence with a new substation wall, modified driveways, and associated improvements. The transmission line will be installed underground using open-cut trenching, existing steel structures will be removed, and new structures will be installed to support upgrades.
This project is part of the larger Xcel Energy Denver Metro Transmission Upgrades to upgrade the existing electric system to support new power generation sources and meet future electricity needs.
