Greenwood to Arapahoe Electric Transmission Line Upgrades

Home > Greenwood to Arapahoe

Overview

As part of the Arapahoe to Greenwood Electric Transmission Line Upgrade Project, we plan to replace the 230 kilovolt (kV) transmission line between the existing Arapahoe Substation, north of the intersection of South Platte River Drive and West Harvard Gulch, in Denver and the existing Greenwood Substation, to the northeast of South Holly Street and East Weaver Avenue, in Greenwood Village.

The approximately 9.5-mile transmission line delivers critical energy to the southwest region of the Denver Metro Area, passing through the City and County of Denver, City of Englewood, City of Sheridan, City of Littleton, City of Centennial, and City of Greenwood Village. Due to natural weathering and the overall age of the towers and equipment, the line has reached the end of its useful life and must be replaced. New infrastructure will improve electric service reliability to homes and businesses in the region to help meet the growing energy needs for the years to come.

The Greenwood to Arapahoe Electric Transmission Line Upgrades Project is part of a larger, multi-year effort to rebuild and upgrade vital, higher-voltage transmission lines around the Denver Metro area as part of the Denver Metro Transmission Upgrades.
