Overview

As part of the Denver Metro Transmission Upgrades, we plan to expand the existing Smoky Hill Substation on South Gun Club Road, north of Chenango Place in unincorporated Arapahoe County.

Expansion at the Smoky Hill Substation includes:

  • Installing a new 345/230 kilovolt transformer
  • Expanding the fenced area and replacing a portion of the substation fence
  • Relocating, removing, replacing and adding various substation equipment within the expanded fenceline
  • Restringing electric transmission lines outside of the fenced area

Smoky Hill Substation is part of a larger, multi‑year effort to rebuild and upgrade vital, higher voltage transmission infrastructure across the Denver Metro area as part of the Denver Metro Transmission Upgrades.
